Poedua series (2016)

A series of ink and watercolour paintings reimagining John Webber’s 1785 painting of Poedua, said to be the first great portrait of a Pacific Island woman made for a Western audience.

All in private collections.

  • Produced for The Perpetual Flux of Transitional Otherness (2016), a collaborative exhibition project with Margaret Aull and Leilani Kake, staged at Olly, Mt Eden, central Auckland.
